FEATURE: March Madness Event
Presented by: PC Games & Gamepro

byJoe McCloud

Those of you who weren't able to attend the event that PC Games and GamePro magazines held on May 29 missed out on quite an extravaganza. San Jose Live (located smack in the middle of downtown San Jose, Calif.) was the place to be if video games fit your forte. And few attendees walked away empty-handed: there were plenty of free T-shirts, magazines, and sports games for all.

Three PCs were set up for gamers to jump on and test their abilities against the staff. One of them was connected to the Internet for players to battle it out on Mplayer and TEN. The Internet connection also gave us the opportunity to give attendees a sneak peek at our new and improved Web site, including the Battlezone area, which should be up very soon. Watch for it: It's absolutely going to blow your mind.

Logitech representatives were also at the event for a short while, and the company's Wingman controllers were featured on all the machines for players to get their hands on. Extra Wingmans were given away during the event as prizes.

The party also allowed our readers to meet the staff of both magazines. Editors from PC Games and GamePro were close at hand, talking to everyone, answering questions, and bearing goodies for all. In the words of Aaron Olson, one of the gamers who attended the event: "I'm so happy that my two favorite magazines decided to do something together. This is really cool!"

All fun aside, the event was mainly our way of saying "Thanks" for counting on us to keep you informed about the gaming news that's out there. Because of the success that this March Madness event turned out to be, we're already in the planning stages of our next big event. Of course, we're going to have a booth at E3 as well, so if you're anywhere near Atlanta between June 19 and 21, be sure to stop by and say hello.
